Nonexistent Landscape almost lives up to its title. The piece is a sketch - that is, I wrote it with an idea and then realized how to better express the idea more completely, U thought, which I immediately did in a subsequent piece titled The Unnameable. But I had completed the sketch. It seemed primitive and overly simple, and I didn't think much about it. And yet, every time I've listened to it I find it rather charming, in a naive way. In 2026 I revised it a little, changing the ending and thickening the counterpoint in many places. It's very similar to The Unnameable in instrumentation, rhythmic motive, voice-leading, and so on, and as I proceeded I began to realize it's actually a better piece. So, despite deficiencies in the recording, which I am unable to ameliorate at the moment, I make it public - in the hope that I, or someone else, may someday find something to do with it.
