Untitled Phase Study 1993 (1993)

In February 2014 I was going through old manuscripts and found this fully-written, three-minute piano piece, with the notation "first draft June 9-10 1993" - and it was an improvement on previous sketches on the same page. I barely remembered working on it, but it was certainly typical of my rhythmic concerns of the time, and I was impressed with how much the harmonies resembled my recent music, more than they did my other music of the early 1990s. I tweaked a few things to make a smoother second draft and brought it back to life after 21 years.
